Project Overview
Team Armored Roofing recently completed a flat roof replacement and chimney repair project for a homeowner in St. Petersburg, Florida. The existing flat roof was showing its age, requiring a full replacement to ensure long-term protection. In addition to the roof replacement, the chimney flashing needed attention to prevent leaks and further damage. The project combined expertise in both flat roofing systems and detailed chimney work.
Work Performed
The project began with a complete tear-off of the old flat roof, down to the wood decking. Any rotten wood was replaced to provide a solid foundation. The decking was re-nailed with 8D ring shank nails to meet current code requirements. Next, a peel-and-stick base sheet was installed, followed by stripping around the perimeter for extra protection. The flat roof was then finished with a new CertainTeed modified torch down roofing system. Finally, new driftwood shingles were installed to tie-in to the existing roof. Chimney repairs included removing shingles, installing new L flashing and counter flashing with sealer and screws, and painting the flashing to match the chimney. New driftwood shingles were installed around the chimney to blend with the existing roof.
