Team Armored Roofing recently completed a skylight replacement project in Clearwater, Florida, addressing issues with an existing skylight and its associated flashing. The project involved removing the old, potentially leaky skylight and installing a new, energy-efficient model. Our goal was to provide a long-lasting, weathertight solution that improved the home's natural lighting and energy performance.
Work Performed
The scope of work began with carefully removing the existing skylight cap and the surrounding shingles to access the curb. We then installed a new double-pane glass skylight, impact-resistant and featuring a UV protectant film. New peel-and-stick underlayment was applied around the existing curb, followed by new 4 x 6 L flashing. Roof cement was applied strategically under and on top of the flashing for added protection at the corners. Finally, we installed new shingles around the skylight, step sealing them with cement, and painted the flashing brown for a clean, finished look. We completed the installation with a new curb-mounted piece on top of the skylight.
