Team Armored Roofing recently completed a flat roof replacement project in Palm Harbor, Florida, focusing on the second story of the home. The existing roof was removed down to the wood decking. Our team addressed some minor wood rot before installing a brand new, durable flat roofing system, specifically chosen by the homeowner for its longevity and performance in the Florida climate.
Work Performed
This flat roof replacement involved several key steps. First, the existing roofing was carefully removed down to the wood deck. We then replaced any rotten wood and re-nailed the decking with 8D ring shank nails to ensure it met current code. Next, a peel and stick base sheet was installed, followed by stripping around the perimeter for added protection. To create proper drainage, a 6-square tapered system was installed using 3-inch plates and screws every 16 inches. Finally, a new CertainTeed modified torch down roofing system was installed over the tapered system.
