Project Overview
Team Armored Roofing recently completed a shingle to flat roof replacement project in Orlando, Florida. The existing low-pitched shingle roof on the back of the house was replaced with a durable and weather-resistant modified torch down system. The project involved careful removal of the old shingles and a seamless tie-in to the existing shingle roof where the pitch changed, ensuring a watertight seal and aesthetically pleasing transition. New birchwood shingles were installed at the tie-in point to complete the look.
Work Performed
The project began with a complete tear-off of the existing shingles down to the wood deck. Any rotten wood was replaced to provide a solid foundation. The decking was then re-nailed with 8D ring shank nails to meet current building codes. A peel and stick base sheet was installed, followed by stripping around the perimeter for added protection. Finally, a new CertainTeed modified torch down roofing system (6 squares flat, 1 square shingle) was expertly installed, along with new drip edge and vents.
