Project Overview
Team Armored Roofing recently completed a flat roof replacement project in Gulfport, Florida, addressing an aging roof on a residential property. The project involved a complete tear-off of the existing roofing system, followed by necessary wood deck repairs to ensure a solid foundation. We then installed a high-performance flat roofing system to protect the home from the elements and provide long-lasting durability.
Work Performed
The project began with removing the existing roof down to the wood deck, replacing any rotten wood and re-nailing the decking with 8D ring shank nails to meet code. We installed a peel and stick base sheet and stripping around the perimeter for added protection. For the back flat roof, we incorporated a tapered system using tapered boards installed with 3-inch plates and screws every 16 inches, ensuring proper drainage. A new CertainTeed modified torch down roofing system was then installed over the tapered system and a separate portion of the flat roof. The front flat section of the roof was also replaced using the torch down system and does not need a taper as its under 3 sq. The shingle roof tie-in also received a full re-roof.
