The project involved removing the existing failing flat roofing system and installing a new CertainTeed modified torch down roofing system with a tapered insulation system. The tapered system was necessary to provide proper water drainage on the flat roof surface, preventing ponding water and potential leaks. Work Performed
The scope of work included removing the existing roof down to the wood deck. Any rotten wood was replaced, and the decking was re-nailed with 8D ring shank nails to meet code. A peel and stick base sheet was installed, followed by stripping around the perimeter for added protection. A tapered insulation system was installed with 3-inch plates and proper screws every 16 inches to create a pitch on the flat roof. Finally, the new CertainTeed modified torch down roofing system was installed over the tapered system.
