The project involved removing the old roofing system down to the wood deck and installing a brand new, high-performance shingle roof. This included addressing some underlying wood damage to ensure a structurally sound and weather-resistant final product. The homeowners chose GAF Timberline HDZ shingles for their new roof.
Work Performed
Our team removed the existing shingles and disposed of them properly. We replaced seven sheets of damaged ½” plywood, exceeding the initial allowance. The decking was re-nailed with 8D ring shank nails to meet current Florida building codes. A peel-and-stick underlayment was installed to create a waterproof barrier, followed by new lead pipe boot covers, galvalume vents, drip edge, and valley metal. Upgraded Omni roll cobra ridge vents were installed, along with additional vents to optimize attic ventilation. All penetrations were step sealed for enhanced protection.
